Alternative Conservative budget for Lambeth

Despite some last minute hand wringing, Labour's councillors in Lambeth failed to adopt proposals put forward by Conservatives in our alternative budget to:

1. Reduce waste and leave resources to spare that could restore cuts to
2. Employ a dedicated climate change officer in Lambeth fopr the first time.

"Labour could start with their own bank accounts and revisit some of the huge allowances that have paid to the administration's payroll vote," says Cllr John Whelan.

"If you live in an average home the Council Tax bills dropping through your letter box early next month will be a tad under £1,200."

Last year the previous Conservative and Lib Dem administration managed a tax freeze in the Lambeth element of the Council Tax while Labour proposed a cut in council tax through a series of ranting speeches that had no properly constructed table attached with the specific details. In stark contrast we've produced a fully costed budget, which the Director of Finance has approved as prudent and legal - cutting waste, halting Labour's cuts and reducing the 4.99% council tax hike.
